We honoured the memory of the heroes

Our country won the war at the terrible cost: the total number of dead exceeded 27 million. On the 8th of May citizens of our town met in Victory square to honor the memory of those who died to defend peace and happiness of our Motherland. The veterans of the war told us about those difficult days. The 9th Form student of our school E. Ponomaryev and students from other schools told the poems devoted to the war heroes. We honoured the memory of the heroes with a minute of silence. The people brought the burning candles and flowers to the memorial. The weather was not good that evening and it seemed that the Earth cried with people.
We should always remember what our great-grandfathers and grandfathers have done for peace on the Earth. We should do our best to live in peace and friendship with all peoples.
